Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has approved a relief package of Rs. 120 million to support students in areas affected by recent floods. This initiative reflects the university’s commitment to standing with the nation during difficult times.
The decision was made by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Nasir Mahmood. The relief package is intended to help students continue their education despite financial hardships caused by the natural disaster. “The university’s objective was to support students in difficult circumstances so they may continue their education despite financial hardships,” said Professor Mahmood in a press release. He added that AIOU will continue to take every possible step for the promotion of education and the welfare of its students.
According to Syed Ghulam Kazim Ali, Director of Students’ Affairs, the relief package provides different levels of financial support. Students enrolled in Matriculation and FA programs who have not yet paid their Autumn 2025 semester fees will receive a full fee waiver. Students pursuing Bachelor’s and Associate Degree programs will be granted a 50 percent concession on their fees.
In addition to the financial aid, the university has extended the admission deadline until September 15, enabling affected students to complete their enrollment. This step is a reflection of the university’s humanitarian policy and national responsibility, ensuring students are not left behind.
“This initiative was not only an important step towards securing the educational future of flood-affected students but also a reflection of the university’s humanitarian policy and national responsibility,” said Syed Ghulam Kazim Ali.
