LAHORE, PAKISTAN – The Punjab government has launched a new initiative to equip students and professionals (faculty) with globally recognized IT certifications. Executed by the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), the program aims to provide a digitally skilled workforce for the international tech industry.
The “Global IT Certifications” program allows citizens across Punjab to get certified by major technology companies like Google, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, Meta, and Cisco. The government will reimburse the full certification fee to individuals who successfully pass their chosen exams.

- 10,000 fully funded certifications available.
- More than 40 internationally recognized programs are part of the initiative.

- Open to all residents of Punjab with a valid CNIC and domicile.
The program’s objective is to prepare a new generation of professionals and students to meet the demands of the global IT market. “This initiative is set to play a pivotal role in empowering Punjab’s talent, helping individuals unlock new career opportunities, and positioning them for success in a rapidly evolving digital world,” stated PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf, as quoted by the Associated Press of Pakistan.
“It will open doors for professionals to showcase their abilities on a global stage, enhancing both personal growth and the province’s presence in the global IT sector.”
The Punjab government has already started the reimbursement process for early batches of certified candidates. These individuals, hailing from various software houses and educational backgrounds, have expressed gratitude for the opportunity to upgrade their digital skills with financial support.
Application Process
The process for applicants is straightforward and involves a few steps:
- Register on the official portal at certifications.pitb.gov.pk.
- Select the desired certification.
- Pay the certification fee.
- Pass the exam and upload the certificate to the portal.
- Receive full reimbursement of the certification fee.
The program is a strategic move by the Punjab government to reduce unemployment and boost the province’s digital economy. It provides access to high quality, globally recognized credentials for a wide range of individuals, without financial barriers.
